World Map & Regions

Aeternum — a world of perpetual night spanning 7 major regions and one hidden sanctum, each with distinct enemies, resources, and dungeon access points.

Last updated: April 2026  ·  v2.1

Aeternum Overview

Aeternum exists in a state of perpetual night — the Great Eclipse that ended the ancient war between Vampires and Werewolves has never fully lifted. The world is lit by a blood-red moon and bioluminescent flora adapted to the endless dark. This permanent twilight shapes everything from the types of monsters that roam the land to the political borders between Crimson Empire territory and Pack Clan holdings.

The world is divided into 7 major regions accessible through normal progression, plus the hidden Blood Moon Sanctum, which only opens after completing the Crystal Shards story campaign. Regions are not instanced — all players share the same world space, which means world boss encounters, territory control events, and open-world PvP in war zones are live and dynamic.

Region Descriptions

Crimson HighlandsL1–25

The starting region and seat of the Crimson Empire. Rolling red-clay hills dotted with vampire fortresses and ancient ruins of the pre-Eclipse civilization. Home to the largest concentration of NPCs in the game (18) and the two starter dungeons. All players begin their journey at the Dusk Gate waypoint in the eastern Highlands.

Moonveil WastesL20–45

Vast grasslands turned silvery and strange by decades of Moon Pact energy seeping from the nearby Pack Clan shrines. Werewolf territory, though contested near the border with the Highlands. The two world bosses Vlad the Ancient and Fenrir spawn in this transition zone. Moon Silver is the primary crafting material and is essential for mid-tier weapons.

Shadowfen CavernsL40–65

A vast underground cave network stretching beneath both the Highlands and the Wastes. Bioluminescent fungi provide the only light. Home to the Nightshade Herb used in Blood Elixir crafting and the most efficient mid-game XP farming route (Elite Vampire enemies respawn every 4 minutes). Dungeon D6 is here, featuring the Shade Warden boss from Chapter 4 of the story.

Frozen PeaksL55–70

A glacial mountain range that predates the Eclipse. Ancient ruins beneath the ice contain clues to the Crystal Shards' origin (Chapter 5 content). Frostite Crystal is mined here and used in endgame rune crafting. Home to the Frostmaw world boss and D7 — the Void Sanctum, which is the first dungeon requiring coordinated party composition to clear efficiently.

Desert of AshesL60–75

A scorched wasteland where the first great battle of the Eclipse War took place. The ground is still warm. Ashstone Dust is the primary material for Prestige gear upgrades and fetches high prices on the AH. The world boss Ashcrown the Desolate has its spawn point at the Ember Throne, a ruined arena at the desert's center.

Shattered IslesL70–80

An archipelago of floating landmasses suspended by Void energy — remnants of an ancient continent torn apart during the Eclipse. Void Shards drop here at a high rate and are required for legendary gear crafting. The Shadow Broker NPC operates from the largest island. D9 tests players on aerial combat mechanics unique to this region.

Corruption Zones

Corruption is a dynamic world mechanic where areas of land become tainted by Eclipse energy, spawning stronger variants of normal enemies (Corrupted mobs have +40% HP and +25% ATK) and blocking respawn at nearby waypoints. Corruption spreads from active sources outward by one map cell every 6 real-world hours if no players fight back.

To cleanse a Corruption zone, players must defeat the Corruption Anchor enemy at the center of the affected area. This requires a group of 3+ players for most anchors. Cleansing a zone rewards all participants with Corruption Essence, a crafting material for mid-tier runes, and contributes to the region's weekly cleansing leaderboard.

War Zones (Eclipse War)

Several zones in each mid-to-high level region are designated Eclipse War territories — PvP-enabled areas where Vampire and Werewolf players can attack each other freely. Capturing a war zone control point grants your faction bonus gold income and XP buffs for all faction members in the region for 4 hours. Territory resets every Monday.

War zones are color-coded on the minimap: Red for Vampire-controlled, Blue for Werewolf-controlled, and pulsing purple for actively contested. Players under Level 30 cannot be attacked in war zones (starter protection).

Treasure Hunt Locations

Each region contains 3 hidden treasure caches — locked chests requiring a Skeleton Key (crafted from 5 Bone Fragments) to open. Cache locations shift every 72 hours based on a seeded RNG. Community members track active locations in the in-game Clan chat and on the external wiki. Caches contain rare materials, modest gold amounts (200–800g), and occasionally an uncommon–rare gear piece. The Shattered Isles caches have a small chance of containing Void Shards, making them worth hunting at Level 70+.

Fast Travel System

Players unlock Waypoint Crystals by discovering them in each region. Once unlocked, fast travel between any two discovered waypoints is available from the world map screen. Fast travel costs 10 stamina per jump and has a 5-minute cooldown after PvP combat to prevent escape abuse. There are 3 waypoints per standard region and 1 in the Blood Moon Sanctum.

The Dungeon Guide NPCs in each region offer a free warp directly to their region's dungeon entrance, bypassing the standard fast travel system — this is particularly useful for speedrun-oriented dungeon clears. Premium players with the Nightrider Pass can fast travel at no stamina cost and with no cooldown restriction.

📖 Read the Lore

Each location and region has deep lore behind it. The Aeternum Codex covers the history of major locations, faction territories, and ancient artifacts hidden across the world.
