Hermit Egon lives in deliberate isolation at Pearl Throne, having left the Council of Ancients — the pre-war governing body — forty years ago when he concluded that governance and wisdom were increasingly incompatible concepts. He is cryptic, perceptive, and in possession of knowledge about Aeternum's political foundations that no other living source can provide.
Background & History
Egon served on the Council of Ancients for sixty years, participating in decisions that shaped the current war's preconditions without initially recognizing what he was helping to create. When the recognition arrived — gradually and then completely — he retired to Pearl Throne and has not involved himself in institutional affairs since. He speaks to visitors who find him, which requires significant effort, and provides them with context they cannot obtain elsewhere, which requires significant additional effort to understand. He considers this an appropriate filtering mechanism.
