☠️ Rael the Soulharvester
Necromancer — Any Race
LAST UPDATED: APRIL 2026
LORE
“Ancient beyond reckoning, Rael has cheated death so many times that death itself gave up. He fights for whoever amuses him — and very little does anymore.”
Overview
Rael the Soulharvester is one of the oldest entities in Aeternum — a legendary necromancer so ancient that death itself has apparently given up trying to claim him. He is the premier boss-farming hero in the game, combining a drain-based sustain skill, a passive instant-kill chance on regular enemies, enhanced undead drops, and a daily revive that functions as an insurance policy against catastrophic losses. Recruiting him requires reaching level 60 and completing one of the game's most demanding quest chains.
Background
No living historian can accurately date Rael's first appearance in Aeternum's records; the earliest written references describe him as already ancient, already bored, and already far too powerful for anyone to do anything about. He has watched empires rise and shatter, factions form and fracture, and countless generations of ambitious warriors discover the hard way that death is not the negotiating partner they imagined. Rael himself has died — technically — seventeen times by his own count, returning each time with the detached bemusement of someone who has lost the ability to be surprised by anything. He agrees to travel with a player not out of loyalty or cause but because he has run out of things that hold his attention, and watching someone fight their way through Aeternum from the beginning is, he admits, at least marginally diverting. Push him to loyalty 3 and something shifts: he names you 'Worthy Companion', the highest compliment in his extremely limited emotional vocabulary, and the daily revive activates — a quiet acknowledgement that he would prefer you not to die permanently, for now.
Combat Abilities
Active Skill
Drains 30% of enemy's current HP and heals yourself for that amount. 4-battle cooldown.
Passive Ability
5% chance to instantly kill any non-boss enemy at battle start
Loyalty System
Loyalty with Rael the Soulharvester increases by completing their personal quests. Each tier unlocks stronger bonuses and, at the highest level, access to an exclusive resource or location. Progress is permanent and carries across all your characters on the same account.
| LEVEL & NAME | QUESTS REQUIRED | BONUS |
|---|---|---|
| 1 — Momentary Interest | 0 | +15% Undead monster drop rate |
| 2 — Mild Amusement | 3 | +25% Undead drops, +10% XP from boss kills |
| 3 — Worthy Companion | 8 | +30% Undead drops, +20% boss XP, Revive once per day if killed |
Recruitment Guide
To recruit Rael the Soulharvester you must reach Level 60
and complete the recruitment quest chain (quest ID: 65).
The recruitment quest will become available in your quest log once the level
requirement is met — check the Quests
section of the wiki for full chain details.
TIP
Focus on completing the recruitment quest chain as soon as you hit the level requirement. Heroes recruited earlier have more time to accumulate loyalty, and even the level 1 loyalty bonus from Rael the Soulharvester begins paying off immediately after recruitment.
Personal Quests
Rael the Soulharvester has 5 personal quests. Completing each quest contributes toward loyalty tier progression. Work through them in order — later quests unlock after earlier ones are complete. All quests raise loyalty toward the next tier; reaching 3 and 8 completed quests triggers tier upgrades.

Combat Tips
- Soul Drain is your primary sustain tool against bosses — draining 30% of current HP means it scales with the boss's remaining health pool, dealing more healing value earlier in the fight when both pools are large and finishing power is less needed.
- Rael's 5% instant-kill passive on non-boss enemies transforms grinding zones into significantly faster sessions — pair it with high-encounter grinding areas where the passive can trigger multiple times per run.
- Use the daily revive strategically by pushing higher-difficulty content than your gear level strictly supports — the safety net allows risk-taking that accelerates progression beyond what cautious play achieves.
Synergies
Rael pairs with Elder Theron as the definitive boss-farming duo: Theron's dungeon cooldown reduction allows more runs while Rael's drain sustain and boss XP bonus maximise returns per run. Necromancer subclass players gain compounding bonuses from his undead drop rate enhancements, as the subclass also boosts loot from undead-type enemies. In extended grinding sessions, Rael's passive instant-kill chance combined with Zora Bloodtracker's Marked for Death debuff — which amplifies all incoming damage by 50% — creates a high-lethality crowd-control loop that clears mobs exceptionally fast.
