A
Ability Power AP

A stat that amplifies the damage and healing of active skills. AP scales with INT (Intelligence) and is crucial for Mage and Blood Mage subclasses. Most skills show their AP scaling in the tooltip.

Achievement

In-game milestone rewards for reaching specific goals (e.g., "Kill 100 monsters", "Win 50 Arena matches"). Achievements grant gold, XP, and exclusive titles. Claimed from the Achievements page.

Aeternum

The dark fantasy continent where Vampires vs. Werewolves takes place. Aeternum spans over a dozen regions from the sun-scorched Ashfields to the frozen peaks of Frostmere. The 3,000-year war between vampires and werewolves is central to its lore.

Arena

The PvP combat zone where players fight 1v1 for ELO rating. Wins increase ELO; losses decrease it. Arena has ranked seasons with end-of-season rewards based on final ELO tier.

ATK Attack

Your primary offensive stat for physical damage. ATK scales with STR (Strength) and weapon quality. Higher ATK means more damage per hit in hunts, PvP, and boss fights.

Auction House

A player-driven marketplace. List items for sale in Gold; other players can browse and buy. Listings last 24 hours and a 5% commission is taken on successful sales. Items can be filtered by rarity, type, and price.

Aura

A passive area-of-effect buff emitted by certain heroes, skills, or equipment sets. Auras affect all party members within range and stack with regular buffs. Common auras include Bloodlust (+Lifesteal) and Iron Will (+DEF).

Battle Pass BP

A seasonal progression system with 50 reward tiers. Earn BP XP from all major activities. Free track gives gold and materials; premium track adds cosmetics, titles, and Gems. One season lasts ~90 days.

Blood Moon

A rare nightly world event lasting 1 hour. During Blood Moon, Vampire characters gain +25% ATK and rare/epic item drop rates increase for all players. Announced in global chat with a server-wide notification.

Blood Knight

A Vampire-exclusive subclass combining tanking and lifesteal. Blood Knights trade burst damage for exceptional sustain using the Crimson Shield skill and Vampiric Aura passive. Dominant in long dungeon and boss encounters.

Boss

A powerful named monster with multiple health phases, special mechanics, and guaranteed rare loot drops. Bosses have daily kill limits. World Bosses are shared across all players; Dungeon Bosses are per-instance.

Buff

A temporary positive status effect that improves one or more stats. Buffs have durations (30s to 24h) and are shown in the buff bar during combat. Common buffs: Strength Brew (+STR), Moon's Blessing (+DEF), Battle Cry (+ATK).

Clan

A player guild of up to 30 members. Clans have a shared bank, level (1–10 with perks), weekly Clan Wars bracket, territory control map, and clan quests. Joining a clan unlocks clan-exclusive buffs and missions.

Clan War

A weekly PvP event where clans declare war on each other. Members deal damage to enemy clan members over 48 hours. The clan with the most total damage wins territory and war points. Results shown in the War History log.

Codex

The in-game encyclopedia. The Codex contains entries for every monster, item, and location in Aeternum — including lore, stats, and drop tables. New entries unlock as you encounter them during gameplay.

Cooldown CD

The time you must wait between uses of a skill, consumable, or action. Cooldowns range from seconds (combat skills) to hours (daily missions, NPC missions). Skills with CD show a countdown timer in the UI.

Corruption

A stacking debuff mechanic in high-difficulty content. Corruption reduces DEF and healing received by 5% per stack. Maximum 10 stacks (−50% DEF). Cleanse items and certain skills remove Corruption stacks.

Crafting

The system for creating equipment and consumables from raw materials. Recipes are learned from quests, NPCs, and loot drops. Higher crafting skill unlocks better recipes. Some legendary items can only be obtained by crafting.

Critical Hit CRIT

An attack that deals 150% of normal damage (base). Critical Hit chance scales with DEX and LCK. Certain skills guarantee crits under specific conditions. Crit damage bonus can be increased by equipment affixes up to 200%.

Crystal Shard

A story collectible tied to the main narrative arc. There are 7 Crystal Shards hidden across Aeternum, each guarded by a chapter boss. Collecting all 7 unlocks the Heart Shard finale and grants the legendary title "Shard Bearer".

Daily Mission

Short missions that reset every 24 hours. Completing all daily missions grants a bonus reward (increased gold/XP). Daily missions also provide the highest Battle Pass XP per activity (50 BP XP each).

Dark Knight

A neutral subclass that wields dark energy to enhance both offense and defense. Dark Knights use the Death Mark skill for massive single-target damage. Ideal for players who want versatile warrior gameplay without race restriction.

DEF Defense

Reduces incoming physical damage. Formula: damage_taken = raw_damage × (1 − DEF/DEF+500). DEF scales with equipment type (plate > leather > cloth) and STR. DEF does not reduce magical or true damage.

DEX Dexterity

Increases dodge chance, critical hit rate, and attack speed. Each point of DEX adds +0.15% dodge and +0.1% crit chance. High DEX is essential for Rogue and Ranger subclasses. Also increases gathering speed by 0.05% per point.

Dodge

A combat mechanic where your character completely avoids an attack, taking 0 damage. Dodge chance is shown as a percentage in character stats. Max dodge cap is 60%. Dodge is especially effective in PvP against high-burst opponents.

Dungeon

An instanced combat encounter with 5 waves of enemies and a boss on the final wave. Each dungeon has a recommended level and grants XP, gold, loot, and 10 BP XP on completion. Dungeons reset daily at midnight server time.

Eclipse War

A seasonal world event that occurs every 4 weeks. During Eclipse War, all players compete for territory control across Aeternum. The race with the most controlled zones at the end gains a server-wide faction buff for one week.

ELO

The Arena rating system (based on the Elo chess rating system). Win: +ELO. Lose: −ELO. ELO determines your rank tier (Bronze/Silver/Gold/Platinum/Diamond/Grand Legend). Season ends reward loot and titles based on final ELO tier.

Enchanting

The system for adding magical properties to equipment. Enchants use Enchanting Dust and Arcane Crystals. Each enchant attempt has a success chance (higher item level = lower chance). Failed enchants degrade the item by 1 quality tier.

Endgame Token

Currencies earned in high-level content: Tower Tokens (Infinity Tower), Raid Marks (Weekly Raid), and Prestige Shards (Prestige resets). Spent at the Endgame Vendor for best-in-slot items not available elsewhere.

Event

Time-limited game modes and activities that offer exclusive rewards. Events include Blood Moon (nightly), Eclipse War (monthly), and seasonal events tied to real-world holidays. Event rewards cannot be obtained outside their window.

Faction

One of four political powers in Aeternum: Crimson Court (Vampire), Silver Pack (Werewolf), Iron Brotherhood (neutral warrior), Shadow Conclave (neutral rogue). Building faction reputation unlocks unique quests, items, and NPC relationships.

Favor

Relationship points with individual NPCs (0–100). Complete NPC missions to earn Favor. Tiers: Stranger (0) → Acquaintance (20) → Friend (40) → Ally (60) → Trusted (80+). Higher favor unlocks exclusive dialogue, quests, and shop items from that NPC.

F2P

Free-to-Play. All core game content in VvW is accessible without spending money. Premium currency (Gems) is used only for cosmetics and Battle Pass; no pay-to-win stat advantages. All items can be earned through gameplay.

Gathering

A set of professions (Mining, Herbalism, Woodcutting, Hunting) that yield crafting materials. Gathering has its own XP track (levels 1–50). Higher gathering level unlocks better resource nodes and reduces cooldowns.

Gem

The premium currency in VvW. Purchased with real money or earned through events and achievements. Used for cosmetic skins, Battle Pass unlock, Gem Shop exclusives, and crafting speedups. Cannot buy stat-boosting items (anti-P2W policy).

Gold

The primary in-game currency. Earned from hunting, quests, dungeons, selling items, and NPC missions. Used for equipment, crafting, skill upgrades, training gathering professions, and auction house purchases.

Grand Legend

The highest PvP Arena rank tier (ELO 2000+). Grand Legend players have a special golden nameplate, exclusive title, and appear on the Global Leaderboard. Only the top ~1% of active arena players achieve this rank per season.

H
Hero

A named companion character (uncommon to legendary rarity) who provides passive bonuses and active skills when recruited. Heroes are recruited using in-game gold and level requirements. Each hero has loyalty tiers unlocked through missions.

HP Hit Points

Your character's total health pool. Reaching 0 HP means death (respawn at last checkpoint). HP scales with STR and equipped gear. Max HP increases at each level up. HP regenerates slowly over time and instantly with healing items.

Hunt

The core PvE activity. Select a monster from the Map and send your character to fight it. Hunt results are calculated automatically based on your stats vs. monster stats. Yields XP, gold, and loot. Costs no energy (unlimited hunts per day).

Infinity Tower

A solo PvE challenge with infinite floors. Each floor increases monster difficulty. No time limit per floor. Tower resets weekly (Monday midnight). Floor reached is your weekly Tower score, tracked on the leaderboard. Rewards Tower Tokens per floor.

Inventory

Your item storage. Default 50 slots; expandable with Bag upgrades (purchasable from the shop). Items are divided into Equipment, Consumables, Materials, and Misc categories. Items can be sold, traded, or sent via mail.

INT Intelligence

Increases Ability Power (AP) and magic-based skill damage. INT also improves crafting success rate by 0.5% per point. Primary stat for Mage, Blood Mage, and Soul Harvester subclasses.

Journal

Your player diary tracking quest progress, explored locations, NPC relationships, and story chapter completion. The Journal shows exploration percentage per region and overall game completion stats.

Keystone

The difficulty level for Mythic+ dungeons (1–20+). Higher keystone levels add health/damage modifiers and enemy affixes. Keystones are earned by completing previous levels and are consumed on each Mythic+ attempt.

LCK Luck

Increases item drop rates, critical hit chance, and rare event triggers. Each point of LCK adds +0.05% drop rate and +0.08% crit chance. LCK is a secondary stat with diminishing returns above 200 points.

Leaderboard

Global rankings for various metrics: Overall Power, Arena ELO, Tower floors, Mythic+ keystone level, Raid damage, Gathering level, and Clan Wars wins. Updated hourly. Leaderboard positions earn weekly ranking rewards.

Legendary

The highest item and hero rarity tier (gold color). Legendary items have unique passive effects not found at lower rarities. Legendary heroes have the most powerful abilities and highest loyalty bonuses. Extremely rare drops or crafted from rare recipes.

Level

Character progression from 1 to 80. Each level grants stat points to distribute and may unlock new skills, quests, and map regions. Level 80 is the cap (before Prestige). XP required per level increases exponentially from levels 50+.

Lifesteal

Heals you for a percentage of damage dealt. 10% Lifesteal = recover 10 HP per 100 damage. Especially powerful in extended fights (dungeons, bosses). Stacks multiplicatively with ATK. Primary sustain mechanic for Blood Knight builds.

Loot

Items dropped by defeated monsters, bosses, or earned from chests and events. Loot rarity: Common (grey) → Uncommon (green) → Rare (blue) → Epic (purple) → Legendary (gold). Drop rates scale with monster difficulty and LCK stat.

Loyalty

A 0–100 relationship score with recruited Heroes. Send heroes on missions to gain +1 Loyalty per mission. Higher Loyalty (tiers at 25/50/75) unlocks stronger passive bonuses and hero dialogue. Max Loyalty heroes gain a golden loyalty badge.

M
Mastery

A post-Prestige progression track. Each Prestige grants 1 Mastery point to allocate into permanent stat trees: Combat, Survival, or Craft Mastery. Mastery bonuses persist through all future Prestiges.

Mission

Short objectives given by NPCs or the daily mission board. Missions have a completion condition (kill X monsters, gather Y materials) and a reward (gold, XP). Repeatable missions have hourly or daily cooldowns.

Monster

An AI enemy in the world of Aeternum. VvW has 345 unique monsters across all regions and difficulty tiers. Monsters have ATK, DEF, HP, and drop tables. Elite monsters () and Boss monsters () are much stronger than normal variants.

Mythic+ M+

A high-difficulty dungeon scaling system with keystones from 1–20+. Enemy modifiers (Fortified, Volcanic, Spiteful) rotate weekly. Higher M+ rewards Endgame Tokens and leaderboard points. Weekly lockout resets every Monday.

NPC Non-Player Character

Computer-controlled characters in the game world. NPCs serve as quest givers, vendors, lore storytellers, and mission boards. Building Favor with individual NPCs unlocks deeper interactions and exclusive shop items.

P
Pack Shaman

A Werewolf-exclusive subclass focused on support and healing. Pack Shamans use Lunar Blessing to heal party members and Wolf's Howl to buff ATK for the group. Most effective in co-op dungeon and raid content.

Passive

A skill or ability that is always active without needing to be manually triggered. Passives appear in the second row of the Skills page. Each subclass has 2–3 unique passives. Heroes also grant passive bonuses when recruited.

Prestige

An end-game reset. At level 80, Prestige resets your character to level 1 in exchange for: permanent Prestige stat bonuses, Prestige Shards, a Prestige rank number (P1–P10), and exclusive Prestige-only titles. Subsequent Prestiges unlock stronger bonuses.

PvP Player vs. Player

Combat between two players. VvW PvP happens exclusively in the Arena (ranked 1v1) and Clan Wars (group PvP). Open-world PvP does not exist. Arena PvP uses ELO rating and season ranking.

PvE Player vs. Environment

Combat against AI-controlled monsters. All hunts, dungeons, bosses, raids, and the Infinity Tower are PvE content. PvE rewards are tiered by difficulty and don't require competing against other players.

Q
Quest

Structured storyline tasks with narrative context and multi-step objectives. Quests are required to unlock story chapters and certain heroes. Completing 5 quests in each region unlocks that chapter's boss. Quest rewards include large XP, gold, and items.

Race

Your character's permanent faction: Vampire or Werewolf. Race is chosen at character creation and cannot be changed. Each race has unique base stats, story dialogue, exclusive subclasses, and is favored by specific factions. Race affects Blood Moon and Full Moon event bonuses.

Raid

A weekly server-wide boss event. All players on the server attack a shared World Boss with a massive HP pool. Individual damage contributions are tracked; top damage dealers win extra rewards. Raid resets every Monday. Drops Raid Marks currency.

Rarity

Item quality tier: Common (grey) → Uncommon (green) → Rare (blue) → Epic (purple) → Legendary (gold). Higher rarity items have more stat affixes, higher base stats, and unique effects. Drop rates: Common 60%, Uncommon 25%, Rare 12%, Epic 2.5%, Legendary 0.5%.

Recipe

A blueprint required to craft specific items. Recipes are stored in your Recipe Book (Crafting tab). They can be purchased from faction vendors, dropped by bosses, or rewarded from quests. Rare and legendary recipes are tradeable on the Auction House.

Reputation

Your standing with one of the four factions (0–10,000 points). Gained by completing faction quests and missions. Unlocks at key thresholds: faction shop items (1,000), unique buffs (3,000), exclusive quests (6,000), and legendary faction gear (10,000).

Rune

A socketable enchantment placed into gear sockets (1–3 per piece). Runes add bonus stats (ATK, DEF, HP, AP, Lifesteal, LCK) and can be upgraded with Rune Dust. Legendary Rune Words require 3 matching runes across a gear set for a powerful set bonus.

Season

A time-limited competitive period (~90 days) for Arena PvP and the Battle Pass. At season end, players receive rewards based on their final Arena rank or Battle Pass tier. New seasons bring fresh cosmetics, balance changes, and event content.

Skill

An active ability on the Skills page. Skills have a cooldown, a Mana cost, and an effect (damage, heal, buff). Each character can equip up to 5 active skills and has 2–3 passive skills. Skills are unlocked by leveling and subclass choice.

Socket

An open slot in equipment where a Rune can be inserted. Uncommon gear has 1 socket, Rare has 2, Epic has 3. Legendary items always have 3 sockets and may have a locked "Rune Word" socket that accepts only specific rune types.

Stat

A numerical attribute that defines your character's capabilities. Primary stats: STR, DEX, INT, LCK. Derived stats: ATK, DEF, HP, AP, Dodge, Crit, Lifesteal. Stats increase by leveling, equipping gear, allocating stat points, and Prestige bonuses.

STR Strength

Increases base ATK and carrying capacity. Each point of STR adds +1.2 ATK and +5 carry weight. Primary stat for Warrior, Dark Knight, and Blood Knight subclasses. STR also increases max HP by +4 per point.

Subclass

A specialization chosen at level 10 that defines your playstyle. Vampire subclasses: Blood Knight, Blood Mage, Shadow Rogue. Werewolf subclasses: Pack Shaman, Pack Warrior, Moon Ranger. Neutral subclasses: Dark Knight, Soul Harvester (both races, unlocked at level 20).

Title

A cosmetic label displayed below your character name. Earned through achievements, story completion, PvP rank, and events. Rare titles glow or animate. Some titles are permanent; others expire at season end. Equip titles from the Character page.

Token

Specialized endgame currencies: Tower Tokens (from Infinity Tower floors), Raid Marks (from Weekly Raid damage), and Prestige Shards (from Prestige resets). Each token type is spent exclusively at its corresponding vendor section.

Trade

The system for exchanging items and gold between players. Initiate a trade offer from another player's profile or inventory. Trades require both parties to confirm before items are transferred. Trade offers expire after 24 hours.

Transmog

Transmogrification: change how your equipment looks without changing its stats. Apply any owned cosmetic skin to your gear from the Cosmetics page. Transmog skins are permanent and can be applied to any future gear of the same slot.

Uncommon

The second item rarity tier (green color). Uncommon items have one bonus stat affix and 1 socket. Significantly better than Common but easy to replace with Rare or better gear by level 30+.

V
Vampire

One of the two playable races. Vampires have base bonus to ATK and gain extra power during Blood Moon events (+25% ATK). Vampire-exclusive subclasses: Blood Knight, Blood Mage, Shadow Rogue. Aligned with the Crimson Court faction.

Vendor

An NPC merchant that sells items for gold. Different vendors specialize: General (consumables), Faction Vendor (reputation items), Endgame Vendor (token items), and Gem Shop (premium cosmetics). Prices vary by faction reputation standing.

W
Werewolf

One of the two playable races. Werewolves have base bonus to DEF and HP and gain extra power during Full Moon events. Werewolf-exclusive subclasses: Pack Shaman, Pack Warrior, Moon Ranger. Aligned with the Silver Pack faction.

World Boss

A massively powerful shared monster that all server players attack collaboratively. World Bosses have multi-million HP pools and reset on a fixed schedule. Damage contribution leaderboard determines reward tier. Part of the Weekly Raid system.

World Event

A server-wide event affecting all players simultaneously. World Events include Blood Moon (nightly), Eclipse War (monthly), and seasonal holiday events. These events change game mechanics and reward rates for their duration.

XP Experience Points

The resource used to level up your character (1–80). Earned from hunts, quests, dungeons, PvP wins, and events. XP required per level increases at levels 50+ (exponential scaling). Battle Pass has a separate XP track (BP XP).
