Ironhollow Werewolf · Lv 20–45
A mountain hollowed by the dead and reclaimed by the living. Ironhollow is the mid-game region of Aeternum — a range of abandoned dwarven mines and relit forge-halls, held by the werewolf packs above and haunted by a marooned vampire enclave below.
Ironhollow was dug, not born. Long before the Sundering, dwarven miners bored this mountain hollow chasing cold-iron and moonsteel, and then — the histories disagree on why — they simply stopped, leaving the shafts full of tools and the forge-fires banked. The werewolves found the halls empty and the anvils cold, and made them warm again. Now Packhall Keep crowns the summit, its forges never dark, arming the packs for the Eclipse War to come. But dig far enough down, past the Deepvein, and the tunnels flood; and in that black water something older than the packs still keeps its own fires burning.
"We did not conquer Ironhollow. We inherited it, and we still don't know from whom." — Packmaster Vorne, Packhall Keep
Geography
Text map of Ironhollow (top to bottom, by depth): A vertical region — the higher you climb the mountain the safer it is; the deeper you mine the more dangerous.
- Summit — Packhall Keep: The werewolf hub and safe zone. Waystone, forge-master, quartermaster. Entered from the Ashroot Gate at the Shadowfen border.
- Upper tunnels — The Forge-Halls: Relit workshops (levels 20–30). Contains the Forgefall dungeon portal.
- Mid tunnels — The Deepvein: Active mining tunnels (levels 30–40). Ore veins, Ore Wraiths, and the Deepvein Cut dungeon portal.
- Lower tunnels — The Sunless Deep: Flooded vampire enclave (levels 38–45). Deepest lore, hidden vendor, PvP flashpoint.
- Far northeast — The Ashgate: The pass out to the Crimson Wastes endgame region.
Level Ranges by Area
| Area | Level | Content | Danger |
|---|---|---|---|
| Packhall Keep (summit) | 20 | Safe hub, forge, vendors | None |
| The Forge-Halls | 20–30 | Surface packs, Forgefall portal | Low–Medium |
| Forgefall (dungeon) | 26–30 | 4-boss instanced forge | High (group) |
| The Deepvein (mines) | 30–40 | Ore veins, Ore Wraiths | Medium–High |
| Deepvein Cut (dungeon) | 38–42 | 5-boss instanced mine | High (group) |
| The Sunless Deep | 38–45 | Vampire enclave, lore, PvP | Very High |
Dungeons
| Dungeon | Level | Bosses | Signature Loot |
|---|---|---|---|
| Forgefall | 26–30 | 4 | Emberforged armor set, Cinderhammer weapon |
| The Deepvein Cut | 38–42 | 5 | Refined ingots, Ore Wraith Core, Rare gear |
Forgefall is the region's gear check at level 30 — its final boss, the Molten Overseer, drops the Emberforged chest and the Cinderhammer, the best mid-game two-hander. The Deepvein Cut at 38–42 is the springboard into endgame: clear it for a full Rare set and stockpile refined ingots before you touch the Crimson Wastes.
Resources
Ironhollow is the metal heart of Aeternum and the region where blacksmiths level from 20 to 45. Surface tunnels carry iron and silver veins; the Deepvein holds cold-iron and moonsteel (the latter prized for anti-vampire weapons). Ore Wraiths drop refined ingots directly, skipping the smelting step — which is why the Deepvein Cut is both a dungeon run and a supply run. Pair a mining route through the Deepvein with a Forgefall clear for the fastest smithing progression in the game.
Notable NPCs
| NPC | Role | Location |

| Packmaster Vorne | Main quest-giver, faction lore | Packhall Keep |
| Forge-Master Brenna | Blacksmithing trainer, ingot buyer | The Forge-Halls |
| The Pale Cartographer | Hidden vampire vendor, Sunless Deep lore | The Sunless Deep (flagged) |
Farming & Loot Notes
- Best gold/craft farm: Ore Wraiths in the Deepvein Cut (Lv 38–42) — refined ingots sell high or feed blacksmithing, plus the rare Ore Wraith Core.
- Mid-game gear: Farm Forgefall for the Emberforged set and Cinderhammer at level 30.
- Mining route: Loop the Deepvein for cold-iron and moonsteel while clearing Ore Wraiths — double reward per lap.
- Lore & rare vendor: The Pale Cartographer in the Sunless Deep sells recipes found nowhere else, but the area is a PvP flashpoint — travel grouped.
- Prep for endgame: Do not enter the Ashgate below level 45 in full Rare gear.
