Blood Mage

VAMPIRE SUBCLASS DPS · CASTER SKILLS V12–V38

The Blood Mage weaponises its own vitae — bleeding foes dry with Hemorrhage stacks while Sanguine Font drinks the spilled blood back as health. A self-sustaining ramp caster that dominates dungeon farming and holds its own in ranked duels.

Overview & Fantasy

Where a swordsman spends steel, the Blood Mage spends itself. Every incantation opens a wound — theirs or the enemy's — and the coven teaches that mastery is simply knowing whose blood pays for which spell. A patient Blood Mage never runs dry; the battlefield is a font, and every fresh cut refills the cup.

Mechanically, the Blood Mage is a ramp caster: weak on the opening cast, terrifying once three or more Hemorrhage bleeds are ticking. Its identity is the loop between spending HP (Blood Pact) and reclaiming it (Sanguine Font, Life Siphon). Play it well and you never stop to heal; play it badly and you blow yourself up.

Skill Breakdown

The Blood Mage kit revolves around applying and refreshing bleeds, then converting them into burst. Values below are at max rank (Rank 5); cooldowns assume no haste. Full trees are editable in the Skill Tree Planner.

SYNERGY

Blood Ward turns incoming damage into Blood charges — pre-cast it into a boss slam to fuel a free Blood Pact instead of just tanking the hit.

Stat Priority

Recommended allocation for a level-cap Blood Mage. Every skill scales off Spell Power (INT), so INT is never a wrong point.

PRIORITY 1

INT

Raises Spell Power; scales every ability. Stack until soft-cap (~600), then spill into DEX.

PRIORITY 2

DEX

Spell-crit chance and cast haste. Target ~40% crit before adding VIT.

PRIORITY 3

VIT

Bigger HP pool = bigger Blood Pact nuke and a safer sustain buffer.

DUMP

STR / DEF

No scaling for a caster. Leave at base; survivability comes from lifesteal, not armour.

RECOMMENDED STAT LINE (LEVEL CAP)

INT 60% / DEX 25% / VIT 15%. PvP shifts slightly toward VIT (INT 55 / DEX 25 / VIT 20) for a fatter Blood Pact and a survival cushion against burst. Reset costs 500 gems, so confirm on the Skill Tree Planner first.

Best Builds

🌿 PvE — Bleed Farmer

  • Max Hemorrhage, Crimson Bolt, Sanguine Font, Ruptured Veins
  • INT 60 / DEX 25 / VIT 15
  • Sanguine Regalia 4-piece
  • Best for D6–D9 solo clears & map hunting
  • Never stops to heal — sustain is passive

🗡 PvP — Burst Duelist

  • Max Crimson Bolt, Blood Pact, Life Siphon, Crimson Ascendance
  • INT 55 / DEX 25 / VIT 20
  • Crimson Focus + Vampiric Signet
  • Open Blood Ward → bait burst → Ascendance combo
  • Strong vs. squishies, weaker vs. DoT-cleansers

Damage Rotation

The core loop is apply → build → spend → refresh. Keep Sanguine Font toggled on for the whole fight.

  1. Hemorrhage — open to apply the bleed and start passive self-healing.
  2. Crimson Bolt ×2 — build 2 Blood charges while the bleed ticks.
  3. Hemorrhage (refresh to 2–3 stacks) — never let stacks fall off; each stack is a heal tick.
  4. Blood Pact — spend 3 charges once the enemy is below ~60% for the missing-HP bonus.
  5. Ruptured Veins — detonate stacked bleeds for AoE burst (or single-target finisher).
  6. Life Siphon — channel to top yourself off after Blood Pact's HP cost.
  7. Crimson Ascendance — pop on cooldown or to secure a kill; Blood Pact becomes free.

WARNING

Never cast Blood Pact below 40% HP without Sanguine Font active or Ascendance up — the 20% HP cost can outright kill you against a bleed-reflect boss.

Gear & Sets

  • Weapon: Crimson Focus — highest raw Spell Power; +8% bleed damage affix.
  • Set (BiS): Sanguine Regalia (4-piece) — 2pc: +15% bleed damage; 4pc: bleeds crit and heal 50% more.
  • Ring: Vampiric Signet — +6% lifesteal, smooths out Blood Pact's HP cost.
  • Enchants: INT on every slot; spell-crit on jewellery; a single VIT roll on chest for the Blood Pact buffer.
  • Runes: Rune of Rupture (bleed-tick damage) > Rune of Sanguine (lifesteal) > Rune of Focus (haste).

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Blood Mage good for beginners?
Blood Mage is intermediate. Its self-sustain forgives mistakes, but its damage depends on stacking Hemorrhage bleeds correctly. New players can play it safely by opening with Crimson Bolt and letting Sanguine Font auto-heal, then learning the bleed rotation over time.
What stats does a Blood Mage prioritise?
INT is the primary stat because every Blood Mage skill scales off spell power. DEX (crit) is second for burst, and VIT (health pool that feeds Blood Pact conversion) is third. STR and DEF are dump stats.
Is Blood Mage better in PvE or PvP?
It excels at both. In PvE its bleeds and Sanguine Font sustain make it a top solo-farming and dungeon subclass. In PvP its Blood Pact burst and Life Siphon lifesteal give it strong duel presence, though it is vulnerable to burst if Sanguine Font is on cooldown.
What is the core Blood Mage damage rotation?
Open with Hemorrhage to apply the bleed, cast Crimson Bolt twice to build Blood charges, then spend charges on Blood Pact for the burst. Refresh Hemorrhage before it expires and keep Sanguine Font active for sustain.
How does the Blood Pact mechanic work?
Blood Pact converts up to 20% of your current HP into a large nuke that also scales with missing enemy health. It consumes 3 Blood charges. Because it costs your own HP, always pair it with active Sanguine Font or Life Siphon lifesteal.
What gear should a Blood Mage aim for?
Prioritise INT and spell-crit on every slot. The Sanguine Regalia set (4-piece) is best-in-slot for its bleed-damage multiplier. Off-set, use a Crimson Focus in the weapon slot and Vampiric Signet for extra lifesteal.
How do I stay alive as a Blood Mage in dungeons?
Keep Sanguine Font up at all times, never let more than two bleeds lapse (each bleed feeds a small self-heal), and hold Blood Ward as a panic button for boss slams. Do not cast Blood Pact below 40% HP without lifesteal active.
What are the Blood Mage's weaknesses?
It is squishy with low base DEF, its burst is telegraphed by a cast time, and it relies on ramp time to stack bleeds. Enemies that dispel damage-over-time effects (some W-tree Werewolves) or burst you before Sanguine Font procs are its hardest matchups.
Which race can play Blood Mage?
Blood Mage is a Vampire-only subclass on the V skill tree (skills V12–V38). Werewolves cannot select it; their damage-caster analogue is the Moon-Caller subclass.
How does Blood Mage compare to other Vampire subclasses on the tier list?
Blood Mage sits in the A/S tier for PvE farming and A tier for ranked PvP. Shadow Assassin out-bursts it in single-target duels, but Blood Mage wins sustained fights and multi-target dungeon clears. See the class tier list for the current-season ranking.
