How to Customize Character Look

Quick answer: Customize via 4 layers: (1) skins (race-specific, gem shop or seasonal), (2) banners (clan or personal), (3) mounts (drops or seasonal vendor), (4) titles (achievements, leaderboards). All cosmetic — no stat impact. Customize at /game/cosmetics.html.

The 4 Steps

1

Skins

Buy from gem shop (50-200 gems) or earn from seasonal events. Race-locked. Tradeable on AH after first equip cooldown.

2

Banners

Display in chat, profile, and arena spectator. Earn via achievements, leaderboards, clan membership. Free.

3

Mounts

World boss drops, seasonal vendor (5000+ honor tokens), or gem shop. Some are clan-shared (e.g., Storm Plains warhowl).

4

Titles

Earn via achievements ('Reaper of Crimson'), leaderboards ('S2 2026 Champion'), or events ('Treaty Witness'). Display under your name.

Where to Spend Gems on Cosmetics

The Crystal Sanctum gem shop (run by Oracle Nyxara in-game) is the main hub for permanent cosmetic purchases. Avatar frames start at 200 gems for race-specific options like the Vampire Lord Avatar Frame or Werewolf Alpha Avatar Frame, and climb to 300-400 gems for prestige frames like the Golden Champion Frame or Blood Moon Frame — the latter requires the "Lord of Night" title before it even unlocks. Auras run 350-600 gems (the Void Walker Aura is locked behind level 80), weapon effects run 500-600 gems, and custom titles like "Shadowbane" or "Bloodseeker" cost 250 gems each. None of these grant any stat bonus — every single item in the gem shop is cosmetic-only, which is worth remembering if you're deciding between saving gems for looks versus convenience items.

Mystery Boxes and Stardust

If you'd rather gamble than buy directly, Arcane Chests (the game's mystery box system) drop cosmetic-only rewards — frames, auras, nameplates, titles, weapon trails, and portrait backgrounds. The cheapest, the Shadow Chest, costs 50 gems or 5,000 gold and has a pity counter that guarantees a Rare-or-better item every 10 opens. Higher tiers (Blood Chest at 150 gems, Abyssal Chest at 400 gems) have better odds at Epic and Legendary cosmetics and their own pity counters. Duplicate pulls convert into Stardust, which you can spend directly in the Stardust Emporium — 1,200 Stardust buys any Legendary frame of your choice, so even "bad luck" pulls eventually add up to the cosmetic you want.

Free Ways to Customize Without Spending Gems

Not every customization option costs gems. Banners are entirely free and unlock through achievements, leaderboard placement, and clan membership. Many titles are earned the same way — through PvP rank milestones, dungeon achievements, or seasonal event participation — rather than purchased. If you're not planning to spend real money, focus your customization goals on the achievement-based titles and banners first, and treat gem-shop cosmetics as a long-term goal funded by daily login streaks and free gem sources like Watch & Earn ad rewards.

Profile Showcase: The Deeper Customization Layer

Beyond skins, banners, mounts, and titles, the Profile Showcase system lets you personalize your character's profile page itself. A custom Profile Background (200-500 gems depending on rarity — options range from "Crimson Throne Room" at 200 gems up to the Legendary "Eclipse Skyline" at 500), an Animated Portrait (500-600 gems), a Chat Message Effect (150-200 gems), and a Kill Announcement Style (300-400 gems) all stack together into a fully personalized profile. None of these affect gameplay in any way — they're purely how other players see you when they visit your profile, view your kill feed, or read your chat messages in world channels.

Seasonal and Race-Locked Exclusives

Some of the best-looking cosmetics are gated behind race or season rather than being purchasable at any time. The Vampire Lord Avatar Frame and Werewolf Alpha Avatar Frame are race-locked, meaning a Vampire player can never buy the Werewolf frame and vice versa — this is a permanent restriction, not a limited-time one. Seasonal shop items, by contrast, use event-only currency and disappear once the event ends; if you see a seasonal aura or weapon trail you like during a Blood Moon or Eclipse War event, buy it during that window, because it typically won't return until the same event rotates back around, sometimes months later.

Race Change Scrolls Reset Your Look Too

If you're considering a Race Change Scroll (500 gems, available in the gem shop), know that it resets your stats and gear alongside your race — and since skins are race-locked, any race-specific skins you own become unusable after the switch, though your gems-purchased frames, titles, and auras that aren't race-locked carry over fine. Plan any planned cosmetic purchases around a race change rather than before one, so you don't waste gems on skins you'll lose access to.
