Reputation System Overview
Every faction in VvW uses the same seven-tier reputation system. You begin at Hated (0 points) and progress through Unfriendly, Neutral, Friendly, Honored, Revered, and finally Exalted. Each tier unlocks new vendor items, faction-exclusive quests, and ultimately a legendary reward at Exalted.
| Tier | Points Required | Cumulative Points | Unlocks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hated | 0 | 0 | Nothing — hostile NPCs |
| Unfriendly | 3,000 | 3,000 | NPCs tolerate you; basic dialogue |
| Neutral | 6,000 | 6,000 | Access to faction quests |
| Friendly | 12,000 | 12,000 | Tier 1 vendor item unlocked |
| Honored | 24,000 | 24,000 | Tier 2 vendor item unlocked |
| Revered | 42,000 | 42,000 | Tier 3 vendor item unlocked |
| Exalted | 60,000 | 60,000 | Tier 4 vendor item + legendary reward + exclusive title |
The primary way to earn reputation is through daily faction quests. Each faction offers 10 rotating quests, with 2-3 available per day. Each quest awards 250 reputation points, meaning you earn 500-750 rep per day per faction. At 750 rep per day, reaching Exalted (60,000 points) takes approximately 80 days of consistent daily play.
You can work on all 8 factions simultaneously. Daily quests for each faction are independent, so completing 2-3 quests per faction means up to 24 faction quests per day. This is a significant source of daily gold and XP alongside the reputation rewards.

Reputation Tiers: Hated to Exalted
All 8 factions share identical reputation tier thresholds. Here is what each tier means for your interactions with that faction:
- Hated (0 pts): Faction NPCs are hostile. No quests, no vendors, no interaction. Some faction NPCs may attack you on sight in their territory.
- Unfriendly (3,000 pts): NPCs tolerate your presence but offer no services. Basic dialogue becomes available, revealing faction lore.
- Neutral (6,000 pts): You gain access to the faction's daily quest board. This is where active reputation grinding begins.
- Friendly (12,000 pts): The first vendor tier unlocks. These are cosmetic or introductory items — useful but not game-changing.
- Honored (24,000 pts): The second vendor tier unlocks. These are solid mid-tier weapons and armor pieces competitive with dungeon drops.
- Revered (42,000 pts): The third vendor tier unlocks. These are powerful items that rival epic crafted gear and include unique secondary effects.
- Exalted (60,000 pts): The final vendor tier unlocks alongside the faction's legendary reward and exclusive title. Exalted items are among the best in the game.
Fastest Reputation Methods
The primary reputation source is daily faction quests (250 rep each, 2-3 per day). However, there are additional methods to accelerate your reputation grind:
- Daily Faction Quests (250 rep each): Always complete every available faction quest every day. This is the foundation of all reputation grinding. Each faction has 10 quests in its pool, with 2-3 randomly available daily.
- Kill Enemies in Faction Territory (5-15 rep each): Killing monsters in a faction's zone grants a small amount of reputation. While inefficient alone, it adds up during dungeon runs and questing.
- Faction Donation Quests (100-200 rep): Some factions accept gathered resources or crafted items as donations. The Iron Forge, for example, accepts ore donations for reputation.
- Weekly Faction Challenges (500-1,000 rep): Each faction offers a weekly challenge that resets every Monday. These are harder than dailies but provide significantly more reputation.
- Reputation Events: During certain seasonal events, faction reputation gains are doubled for 24-48 hours. Save your hardest reputation pushes for these windows.
Focus on one faction at a time until Exalted. Spreading your effort across all 8 factions simultaneously means none of them reaches Exalted quickly. Prioritize the faction whose Exalted reward best fits your build, then move to the next. The Merchant Alliance's Gilded Scales (+15% gold from all sources) is the best first Exalted for most players.
Daily Faction Quests: What to Expect
Every faction has 10 quests in its daily pool. Each day, 2-3 are randomly selected as available. Quest types fall into five categories: Kill, Gather, Deliver, Explore, and Craft. All quests award 250 reputation plus gold (110-200g) and XP (190-330 XP). Here is the breakdown by quest type:
- Kill quests: Defeat specific enemies in the faction's territory. Highest gold/XP rewards but require combat readiness.
- Gather quests: Collect specific items or resources. Often completable alongside normal gathering — check if required items overlap with your gathering profession activities.
- Deliver quests: Transport an item from one NPC to another. Lowest rewards but fastest to complete — pure travel time.
- Explore quests: Visit a specific location and interact with it. Moderate rewards with no combat required.
- Craft quests: Create a specific item at a crafting station. Requires appropriate crafting level and materials.
Faction-Exclusive Items Worth Pursuing
Not all faction rewards are created equal. Here are the most impactful items across all 8 factions:
| Faction | Best Reward | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Merchant Alliance | Gilded Scales of Greyport (Exalted) | +15% gold from all sources. The single best economy item in the game. Priority #1 for all players. |
| Iron Forge | Hammerfall (Exalted) | Increases crafting success rate and can produce double output. Essential for dedicated crafters. |
| Frost Wardens | Wintergrasp (Exalted) | Frost greatsword that slows enemies and creates an ice barrier at 30% HP. Top-tier PvP weapon. |
| Void Seekers | Eye of the Abyss (Exalted) | Amplifies all magic damage and grants bonus void damage on spellcast. Best caster off-hand. |
| Shadow Covenant | Obsidian Fang (Exalted) | Life-draining dagger. Converts damage dealt into health. Exceptional for sustain builds. |
| Silver Dawn | Radiant Edge of the First Light (Exalted) | Holy damage bonus against undead. Niche but devastating in PvP against Vampire players. |
| Blood Wolves | Howlfang (Exalted) | Clawed gauntlets with feral frenzy proc. Strong for Werewolf melee builds. |
| Crimson Court | Scepter of the Eternal Bloodline (Exalted) | Empowers blood magic and grants passive life steal. Excellent for Vampire caster builds. |
Best Faction to Prioritize First
For most players, the optimal faction priority order is:
- The Merchant Alliance — The Gilded Scales (+15% gold from all sources) accelerates every other progression system. The sooner you have it, the more total gold you earn over your playtime.
- The Iron Forge — Hammerfall's crafting bonuses reduce long-term material costs for all future gear upgrades.
- Your race's thematic faction — Vampires should prioritize Shadow Covenant or Crimson Court; Werewolves should prioritize Blood Wolves. These factions' rewards synergize best with your racial abilities.
- The Void Seekers or Frost Wardens — Both offer powerful endgame PvP weapons that define specific builds.
At 750 reputation per day per faction, reaching Exalted with one faction takes ~80 days. Reaching Exalted with all 8 factions takes roughly 640 days if done sequentially, or ~80 days if you do all 8 simultaneously (completing 2-3 quests per faction daily). The simultaneous approach is more efficient for daily gold/XP income but delays your first Exalted reward.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I work on all 8 factions at the same time?
Yes. Each faction's daily quests are independent. You can complete quests for all 8 factions every day. The limiting factor is AP and time, not the system itself.
Do faction quests give Battle Pass XP?
Yes. Faction quests count as quest completions and grant +5 BP XP each, in addition to the standard gold, character XP, and reputation rewards.
Can I lose faction reputation?
No. Once earned, reputation points are permanent. You cannot drop from a higher tier to a lower tier. This means every point of reputation you earn is permanent progress.
Are faction vendor items tradeable?
Tier 1 and Tier 2 vendor items are tradeable on the Auction House. Tier 3 (Revered) and Tier 4 (Exalted) items are account-bound and cannot be traded.
Which factions have the best daily quest rewards?
The Merchant Alliance and Shadow Covenant quests pay the most gold (up to 200g per quest), while the Blood Wolves and Frost Wardens quests give the most XP (up to 330 XP per quest). All factions give the same 250 reputation per quest.
Do I need specific dungeon access for faction quests?
Some faction kill quests require you to be in the faction's territory, which may require sufficient character level to access that zone. Deliver and Explore quests sometimes send you to areas accessible from level 1. Check the quest description before accepting to ensure you can complete it. Our Dungeon Guide covers zone access requirements.
