Critical Hit Mechanics — How Crits Work in VvW
Critical hits multiply final damage by 1.5× (base) up to 2.5× with full stacking. Crit chance is uncapped but suffers diminishing returns above 60%. Crit damage scales with LCK and equipment runes — and is the largest source of high-end DPS variance.
Crit chance formula
Base crit chance = 5% + LCK × 0.5% + class-modifier (Shadow Assassin +10%, Berserker +5%). Equipment adds 1-25%. Runes add another 5-30%. Diminishing returns: every 1% above 60 effectively adds only 0.7%.
Crit damage stacking
Base crit multiplier 1.5×. Each tier of crit-damage rune adds +0.1-0.3×. Race passives compound: vampire blood-drain crits restore 2× HP. Werewolf rage crits stack a +5% next-turn ATK buff.
Counter-crit defenses
Crit Resist stat reduces enemy crit chance by 0.5% per point. Some shields and procs trigger 'crit immunity' for 1-2 turns. PvP gear typically has 30-50% crit resist; PvE gear has none.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is crit better than flat ATK?
Above 30% crit chance, yes. Below, ATK scales more reliably.
Do crits trigger on-hit effects?
Yes — life-steal, on-hit damage, and most procs roll separately and stack with crit.
Can a single hit be a crit and a miss?
No. Hit is rolled first; if hit, crit is rolled second.
