Accessing the Auction House
Open the AH from any major city hub (Citadel District for vampires, Pack Summit for werewolves) or via the market icon in the bottom-right UI bar. The AH is cross-server β all players see the same listings.
Understanding the Interface
- Search bar: Item name or category. Use partial names β "void" finds all void-related items.
- Sort by Buyout: Always sort by Buyout price, not Time Remaining, to see market price clearly.
- Price History button: Shows the last 7 days of sale prices β use this to identify market trends.
- My Listings tab: Manage active listings and collect sold item proceeds.
How to Buy Effectively
Before buying anything above 1,000 gold:
- Search the item and sort by Buyout
- Note the lowest 10 prices β the median of these is the true market price
- Check Price History to see if prices are trending up or down
- Only buy if you need it now or the price is below 80% of market value
β οΈ Avoid Overpriced Traps
Sellers often list items at 200β300% of market value hoping uninformed buyers will purchase. Always check multiple listings before buying. The lowest price is not always the market price if only 1β2 listings exist.
How to Sell Effectively
Listing strategy by item type:
- Common crafting materials: Price 5% below the current lowest. High turnover, thin margins, speed matters.
- Rare gear: Price at market median, not the lowest. Gear buyers research before buying; a 10% discount doesn't accelerate sales significantly.
- Unique/limited items: Price at 110β120% of the last sale price. Scarcity allows premium pricing.
Listing fee is 1% of buyout price, non-refundable. If you list at too high a price and relist, you pay the fee again. Get pricing right the first time.
Sniping β Buying Underpriced Items
Sniping is buying items listed below market value and relisting at market price. The technique:
- Identify 5β10 popular items with consistent demand (crafting materials, consumables, BiS gear for current content)
- Know the market price for each by heart
- Search these items every 30β60 minutes, sorted by Buyout
- Any listing below 70% of market value β buy immediately and relist at market price
Consistent snipers earn 5,000β20,000 gold per day passively while doing other activities.
Timing Your Sales
- Best time to sell: FridayβSunday evenings (peak player hours, highest demand)
- Avoid listing Monday morning: lowest player activity, listings often expire without selling
- After patch day: new content drives demand for specific materials β list relevant items within 2 hours of patch
- Blood Moon events: Blood Moon items sell at 2β3Γ normal price during the 24-hour event window
