Gem Spending Guide 2026: Where Every Gem Matters

Gems are premium currency in VvW. No P2W, only QoL + cosmetics. But with limited supply, where you spend determines your efficiency. This is the optimal priority list for F2P and spenders alike.

The 3 Tiers of Gem Spending

🏆 Tier 1: HIGH value (spend ASAP)

  1. Inventory slots (50 gems each, +5 per purchase, max +50). This is the biggest QoL upgrade in the game.
  2. Trader's License (500/mo). It pays itself back 5-10x via AH flipping.
  3. Respec scroll (20 gems). Buy this only when you truly need it for a PvP meta shift.
  4. Rename scroll (10 gems). Nick regret is real.

⭐ Tier 2: MEDIUM value (spend after Tier 1)

  1. Battle Pass Premium (200 gems/season). Worth it if you play 2+ hours daily.
  2. Character slots (100 gems). Good for alt-characters.
  3. Auction House extended history (100 gems/mo). Useful for pro traders only.

🔷 Tier 3: LOW value (optional, cosmetics)

  1. Gear skins: 50-200 gems each.
  2. Mount skins: 100-500 gems.
  3. Title colors: 25 gems.
  4. Chat badges: 50 gems.

F2P Gem Budget (realistic)

Expected F2P gem income

  • ✅ Month 1: ~150 gems from achievements, login streak, and tutorial.
  • ✅ Month 2-3: ~80-100 gems/month once income is consistent.
  • ✅ Battle Pass FREE: +200 gems/season, every 3 months.
  • ✅ Event bonuses: 50-200 gems/event, roughly monthly.

F2P total year 1: ~1,500-2,000 gems. Plan accordingly.

The Optimal F2P Spending Order

  1. Save your starter 50 gems for +5 inventory slots (50 gems).
  2. Month 1: save to 100 gems for +5 more slots.
  3. Month 2: save to 500 gems for your first Trader's License.
  4. Month 3+: keep the recurring 500/mo Trader's License going. It pays for itself with passive AH income.
  5. Any surplus: buy Battle Pass Premium if you play more than 2 hours a day.
  6. Last priority: spend on cosmetics only once everything above is covered.

Common Gem Mistakes

  • ❌ Buying cosmetic skins before inventory slots. This gives false satisfaction with no real utility.
  • ❌ Overspending on your first rename. Pick a good nick the first time.
  • ❌ Impulse-buying Battle Pass Premium without playing enough to complete it.
  • ❌ Chasing limited-time cosmetics. This is a FOMO trap.
  • ❌ Doing daily gem top-ups. Always save for Tier 1 priorities instead.

Spender Optimization (if buying gems)

  • Larger packs have a 20-40% bonus in gems.
  • Buy during Season sales, which happen 3 times per year.
  • Regional pricing may vary, so check your local currency.
  • The annual Trader's License bundle saves money versus paying monthly.
